Dr. Steven Halepas is a Board-Certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon with advanced fellowship training in facial cosmetic surgery. Born and raised in Connecticut, he began his academic journey at the University of Connecticut (UCONN), earning his bachelor’s degree before continuing to the UCONN School of Dental Medicine, where he completed a rigorous curriculum alongside medical students during the first two years. It was here that he discovered his passion for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
In his final year, Dr. Halepas was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU), a prestigious honor society recognizing the top graduates in the field. He then obtained his medical degree from Columbia University’s Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, one of the world’s most distinguished medical institutions. Before medical school, he volunteered as an EMT for seven years in his hometown, responding to real-life emergencies—a background that shapes the calm, safety-focused environment he bring to patient care today. As a current AHA-certified BLS Instructor, he continues to offer free emergency training and drills to local dental teams to help keep our entire community better prepared.
Dr. Halepas completed his Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency at New York-Presbyterian Hospital (NYP), a nationally recognized health system, consistently ranked among the top hospitals in the United States. Here, he gained extensive experience in anesthesia, complex reconstructive surgery, and developed a particular interest in orthognathic (jaw) surgery for facial harmony and airway health. While at NYP completed a full year of general surgery training. In his final year of residency, he served as Chief Resident of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and was the recipient of the Osteoscience Foundation Observership award, which granted him individualized training at one of the world’s leading guided implant and bone regenerative practices.
To offer patients comprehensive care that balances function with aesthetics, Dr. Halepas completed an American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery fellowship, training under a renowned facial plastic and cosmetic surgeon in advanced procedures such as rhinoplasty, facelifts, and full facial rejuvenation. This additional expertise allows him to integrate jaw surgery with facial refinement, creating results that are both natural and transformative.
Our practice is built on friendship and connection, and he values taking the time to truly get to know each patient. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his husband and their dog, Tango, being outdoors, exploring new places, and finding the best local food spots.
